- Tennis. Tsitsipas calls Kyrgios a bully: "He was probably a bully at school himself"
- Tennis. Nick Kyrgios spotted in London with girlfriend Costeen Hatzi
The 1987 Wimbledon champion, Australian Pat Cash, is far from being entertained by the antics of his compatriot Nick Kyrgios.
In a match full of controversy and scandal in the third round of Wimbledon, Kyrgios overcame Greece's Stefanos Tsitsipas and continued his long history of arguing against umpires, and demanded that Tsitsipas be disqualified for hitting a fan with the ball.
Former Australian tennis player Pat Cash commented on the BBC about Nick Kyrgios' behavior of late.
He calls on the ATP to step in and take action: "Kyrgios has taken tennis to the lowest level I can see in of gambling, cheating, manipulation, abuse and aggressive behavior in front of chair umpires and line judges. Something has to be done about it. He has turned some matches into a circus and this cannot be tolerated," Cash said.
Kyrgios' "amenities" so far at Wimbledon
Kyrgios opened the Grand Slam by calling a lineswoman a "snitch" and then spat in the direction of a fan he accused of shouting racial obscenities.
His outrageous behavior was repeated against his Greek rival in a match that ended with sanctions for both players.
Nick's cheating
According to News.com.au, Cash was asked to explain what he meant by the "cheating" accusation against Kyrgios, 27.
"Tsitsipas made a claim for a line and started complaining and he would be face to face, that's part of the game, that's the kind of thing he does and I think there's a limit," Cash said. "I don't have a problem with a little bit of confrontation between players, but when it gets to that level, I think it's out of control.
"The umpire lost control. The ball boys were running around the court while Kyrgios was serving, he didn't slow down for nothing. Tsitsipas got caught in it, so it was entertaining and fascinating, but for me now it was too far gone," Cash concluded.
Advanced to the quarterfinals
Kyrgios has already advanced to the quarterfinals of the London tournament after defeating American Brandon Nakashima.
