Rafael Nadal, who this Wednesday was officially called for the Olympic Games, has announced that he will not compete at Wimbledon to focus on the Olympic Games.

The Spaniard, who fell in the first round to Alexander Zverev at the Philippe Chatrier, continues training to prepare for what will be his last Games, where he will compete in both the singles - with his protected ranking (9) - and the doubles, with Carlos Alcaraz.

Thus, Nadal, who will play the Bastad tournament in preparation for the Paris Games, said Thursday that "yesterday it was announced that I will play in the Olympic Games in Paris, my last Games. With this objective, we believe that the best thing for my body is not to change surface and continue playing on clay until then. It is for this reason that I will not play at Wimbledon this year".

Nadal, who has won Wimbledon twice, acknowledged that "I am sad not to be able to live this year the great atmosphere of this incredible event that will always be in my heart and be with all the British fans who always gave me great . I will miss them all".

Nadal missed last year's tournament due to injury and in 2022 he withdrew in the semifinals due to physical problems.

Nadal is especially excited about the Olympic Games in Paris. The Spaniard has already won gold in singles (Beijing, 2008) and doubles (Rio, 2016) and in the French capital he will say goodbye to this competition.
