Bobby Green (29-12-1) will look to upset Islam Makhachev (21-1-0) Saturday night at the UFC Apex Facility in Las Vegas, Nevada.
The main event card of UFC Vegas 49 was nearly called off when Beneil Dariush withdrew from the contest due to a leg injury. Green stepped up on short notice just two weeks after defeating Nasrat Haqparast on the undercard of UFC 271.
Makhachev is riding a nine-fight winning streak, with his last loss coming in 2015. Most recently, he submitted Dan Hooker in the first round, and now, Makhachev will look to extend his win streak to 10 while getting a shot at the lightweight championship belt.

Makhachev vs Green Prediction
Green is known for his boxing and Makhachev is a lethal grappler, so this fight comes down to which fighter will set the pace. If Green can stay on his feet, he can outstrike Makhachev, but if the fight moves to the ground, then all bets are off for the underdog.
Makhachev averages 3.4 takedowns per 15 minutes and has five finishes in his nine last wins. Green put on a boxing clinic against Haqparast at UFC 271, outstriking him 188-76.
The likeliest scenario is that Green's takedown defense will not be proficient enough to stop Makhachev from taking the fight to the ground. Green will likely stay on his feet throughout the first round, but will get submitted in the second.
Prediction: Makhachev defeats Green via second-round submission
