As things stand right now, there is only a handful of UFC stars who have been able to win belts in two different divisions. Conor McGregor is the only one who held two at the same time but Alex Pereira might not just match his feat but make history if he were to fight for a Heavyweight belt. In recent statements from him after beating Jiri Prochazka, Alex Pereira came out to defend Conor from critics who called him out fo stepping out of UFC 303 with a broken toe. Pereira's argument as that he would've done the same if he wasn't still trying to write his story in the sport's history books. Which is what takes us to today's topic, Tom Aspinall is taking a stance and challenging Alex Pereira to put his fists where his mouth is.

Currently, the Brit is the interim heavyweight UFC champion while Jon Jones recovers from his injury, he is eager to take on anybody who challenges him. Plus, he knows that Alex Pereira is currently the biggest star in MMA and he wants to challenge that throne. Although in order to get to heavyweight, Dana White would normally place a few fights before facing a champion. But he would definitely make an exception in order to make this fight happen. We know how hungry Poatan is of leavinghis indeleable mark on the UFC. Although the most exciting fight is Pereira vs Jones, perhaps fighting Aspinall would be a great warm-up for the Beazilian. Also, Poatan did say he still has unfinished business with Israel Adesanya in the middleweight division and he will likely seek that first.

Tom Aspinall's challenge for Alex Pereira

Speaking to TalkSport, Aspinall said: "As we have seen with me, I'm not shying away from anybody, so if the UFC wants to do that then I'm more than happy to do it. As an elite-level fighter myself, you can't help but be impressed with what Alex Pereira has done over the last couple of years. This time a few years ago nobody knew who he was and now he is one of the biggest stars in MMA, one of the best fighters in UFC history, and I really respect what he has done. Does that mean I don't want to fight him? No, I absolutely want to fight him. I'm sure there will be a time and place for it. I'm not jumping ahead of things right now. I'm fighting Curtis Blaydes now and if that's what the UFC wants to do one day then we will absolutely do it."
