Alex Pereira's light heavyweight title defense against Khalil Roundtree is UFC 307's main event as confirmed by CEO Dana White on Friday. Along with Pereira and Rountree, Raquel Pennington and Juliana Peña also face each other as the event's co-main event.

Rountree tested positive for a banned substance back in May of 2024 and many believed he was going to be "put on ice" until he tested negative, and it seems that that did not take long as Dana White announced his main event participation.
Rountree was supposed to have fought former light heavyweight champion Jamahal Hill at UFC 303, however, on May 18 he shocked the MMA world by confessing he'd be dropping out of the main card due to the use of a prohibited substance.
When Rountree confessed to the decision, the Combat Sports Anti-Doping-UFC's in-house anti-doping program- suspended Rountree retroactively from May 4th which is when the CSAD collected the sample.
According to Damon Martin from MMA Fighting, Rountree could be subject to a disciplinary measure from the Nevada State Athletic Commission, however, that remains to be seen when they have their next meeting at the end of August.
Although there could be a sanction imposed, Martin believes that White has some inside information, and the penalty will not affect the event "Must already know the penalty won't affect his status in October" Martin elaborated.
Pereira will be defending his title for the third time after he raised his hands in victory when he fought Hill at UFC 300 and Jií Procházka at UFC 303. Pereira is well underway to match Jon Jones's title defense record during his second reign from 2018 to '20.
UFC 307 will take place at the Delta Center in Salt Lake City, Utah.
