- UFC. Dana White confirms date and venue for the Jon Jonoes vs Stipe Miocic fight
- UFC. Conor McGregor apparently high on something emerges once again at BKFC event
Although there were two events taking place in Las Vegas tonight, the famous Sphere is where the people had their attention set in. Saul 'Canelo' Alvarez's fight was completely overshadowed by an event that combat sports had never seen before. Even the commentators were captivated by the incredible visuals that were non-stop inside this sphere. There was no better night than the Mexican Independence Day for this event to take place and make people realize that the biggest UFC events need to happen here from this moment forward. Noche UFC 306's main card had some memorable fights that included a seamless win Diego Lopes got by unanimous decision and then rushing back to Alexa Grasso's flyweight title defense as her teammate.
Alexa Grasso loses title vs Valentina Shevchenko
For the co-main event, Alexa Grasso had already defeated Valentina Shevchenko twice before they fought the trilogy tonight. Contrary to the previous two times, she wasn't able to retain her title after losing by unanimous decision. Valentina was finally able to defeat the one rival who had bested her twice already. Judges scored all in Valentina's favor. But the most surreal spectacle was still in store for us. Merab Dvalishvili was determined to keep playing his mind games on Sean O'Malley no matter what and he didn't disappoint. Things got really weird for a while there. Even coach Dean Herb was weirded out by him.
Sean O'Malley can't handle Merab's mind games at all
Georgian bantamweight Merab Dvalishvili was telling everybody he was willing to go to extreme lengths in order to win the belt. He wasn't kidding at all. Initially, he started yelling at Sena O'Malley's coaches and challenging them in Round 1. They scrapped a little bit on the ground during Round 2 and Sean O'Malley also got Herb Dean off his game by pulling Merab's gloves. In Round 3, Dvalishvili kissed O'Malley and this prompted an illegal strike from him. It was a messy fight. In the end, Dvalishvili dominated the fight thanks to his mind games and withstood some heavy body kicks during the final round. Sean lost the belt before the fight even started. We have a new bantamweight champion!
