Time will tell whether UFC fans are treated to a rematch between Dricus Du Plessis and Sean Strickland, with Dana White seemingly having a decision on his hands.

Strickland recently added to his resume by taking down Paulo Costa at UFC 302, and while he has his eyes on the future, he's once again causing an uproar on social media.

His latest remarks seemed to take a jab at White over his lack of fights.

"I'm not fighting in Australia. Were thinking of Vegas in March. I have a love for the Aussies BUT I don't think you're government likes me... Which I take as a compliment!! Hate speech isn't real and I'll always speak up for my kangaroo homies!!!!!! FRRRRREEEEEDDDOOOOOMM!" Strickland wrote on X.

Du Plessis likely to fight in Austria

Strickland's outburst comes amidst rumors that Du Plessis' next middleweight title defence won't be against the American. Instead, many believe it will be against Khamzat Chimaev following his impressive victory over Robert Whittaker in October.

While White had previously stated that Strickland was next in line, the fact his only victory since fighting Du Plessis came against Paulo Costa may have changed matters.

As a result Du Plessis and Chimaev may do battle in Australia in January, forcing Strickland to watch from the sidelines and bide his time.

Regardless of who he faces, Du Plessis is gearing up to be in the octagon in Australia.

"Yeah, I think that's what they want to do (have me defend at UFC 312), I've already agreed and said that I'm more than happy to do that," Du Plessis told Submission Radio.

"Obviously I think before they made anything solid happen, they had to wait for the Khamzat and Whittaker fight, so right now we're in a little bit of an (unknown position), we should have an answer soon but I'm more than happy to fight in Australia in February."
