Bad news for Spanish MMA. Abdellah Er-Ramy (7-2), a Spanish-Moroccan fighter based in Malaga, tested positive for drostanolone as confirmed by the Nevada Athletic Commission after the Dana White's Contender Series. 'The Golden Boy' fought on October 1 against Torrez Finney for a contract with the UFC... and lost in the first round.
MARCA asked the fighter about what happened, and he replied: "Earlier this year I suffered a torn biceps tendon, an injury that was very tough both physically and mentally. At that time, looking to speed up my recovery and get back to my level as soon as possible, I took a substance to help me in the process. This happened during a period when I had no fights scheduled and did not expect to be called for Contenders. Unfortunately, that decision, although motivated by my desire to recover, was not the right one."
Unfortunately, that decision, while motivated by my desire to recover, was not the right one.
Er-Ramy did not hesitate to face up to his actions and accept responsibility for them. For now, the Nevada Commission has imposed a temporary suspension but "disciplinary action will be decided at the next monthly meeting".
Er-Ramy, who was going to fight in Brave in December, will not do so due to injuries.
