Alex "Poatan" Pereira is a Brazilian professional mixed martial artist who entered the UFC in 2021 with just a 3-1 professional record.
In less than three years, he's scored six knockouts, earned four Performance of the Night bonuses, captured the UFC middleweight and light heavyweight titles, defending the latter twice in less than three months.
There's no doubt that Pereira has put the work in to become one of the most consistent UFC fighters, which has broaden his audience and make him earn respect from his fellows. He's fully embracing life as a champion and celebrating everyone who's contributed to his rapid rise.
Pereira delivers some brutal shots to a fan
The Brazilian fighter has become a fan favorite and the latest example is a video he posted in social media where we see the champion interacting with a man that loves his style. The fan even asks "Poatan" to punch him in the stomach with a glove.
At first Pereira was hesitant, but after getting permission, he proceeds to deliver a brutal shot to the fan's stomach. To the surprise of people watc hing the event, the man did not even flinch. Instead, he asked Alex to deliver more punches.
The UFC champion seems really impressed with the man's toughness, and continues to deliver shot after shot, six in total. At the end, Pereira can't do nothing but ire his fan's hard stomach and gives him a big hug, recognizing his ability to withstand body shots.
Pereira and Ankalaev heat up their fight
Alex Pereira (12-2) and Magomev Ankalaev (20-1-1) have been demonstrating for months that their rivalry is as real as life itself. There is nothing forced about it. At UFC 313 this Saturday, March 8, 'Poatan' will face the Russian fighter with his light heavyweight title on the line.
After knocking out Jamahal Hill,Jiri Prochazka and Khalil Rountree Jr, the Brazilian will face what many consider to be his kryptonite. Since Ankalaev got the title shot he has not stopped trying to get into the mind of 'Poatan'. The same has been done by Alex, whose imive face has hardly changed despite all the provocations of the Russian.
With just a few days to go before the fight, Pereira has shaved his head and posted a photo on social media with the message "ready to kill". It is well known that 'Poatan' uses this ritual to intimidate his opponents, as he believes that with hair he is less intimidating.
