The future of Conor McGregor (22-6) does not lie with the UFC. Or so it seems... unless there is a major twist in current events. The Irishman, who still has two fights left on his contract with Dana White's company, has other matters to attend to: beyond his legal troubles and the civil conviction he received for sexual assault... his idea is to be the President of the Republic of Ireland. Just like that.
He himself recalled this last night at the press conference for the presentation ofBare Knuckle FC 70(in Manchester), the bare-knuckle boxing promotion he leads alongside David Feldman. Other 'distractions' that certainly keep him away from the octagon.
"I have two fights left on my contract (with the UFC). I'm in negotiations," "Something happened to me last week. I went to the White House, and I feel a deep pain for my country. There is a lot to be done at home. I'm happy with what I did. I have another motivation right now, so that's my path," declared 'The Notorious'.

And despite the fact that political experts give him little chance of winning an Irish presidential election, he insists that this is his path.
McGregor is not officially retiring from the UFC, that's true... but he wants a perfect return: "I have all the PPV sales records. I have all the box office records, and my comeback will be considered the biggest and most anticipated of all time. So it has to be the right one, and right now, I'm thinking about Ireland. That's where I'm at."

The Irishman, , has not fought in the UFC since his loss to Dustin Poirier in 2021. He made a feint of a comeback in 2024, with a fight for UFC 303 (in June) with Michael Chandler... but a month before he announced that he was injured and the fight was canceled. The UFC, meanwhile, looks ahead without Conor.
