The United States Mens National Team continues to get ready for their World Cup debut against Wales and on Monday Cristian Pulisic and the rest of their stars played a friendly game alongside some migrant stadium construction workers, amid the host nation's ongoing controversy over human rights violations regarding their labor situation.
Team USA trained alongside migrant workers in Qatar
Gregg Berhalter and his players could be seen kicking the ball with the workers on the field, and the star players even gave a few lessons and training drills to the workers, for whom they also signed autographs and took pictures.
The USMNT shared the pictures on social media even after FIFA sent a letter to all 32 participating national teams urging them to leave politics aside and let football take the center stage, after the world's eyes are locked in on Qatar, as the first Middle Eastern country to host the World Cup.
The United States National Team wants to 'Be the Change'
Gregg Berhalter, USMNT's coach has said that his team will continue to push the "Be the Change" message while they are in Qatar, and will try and raise awareness for the host nation's treatment of migrant workers and of the LGBTQIA+ community.
"I think that when we are on the world stage and Qatar, it's important to bring awareness to these issues, and that's what Be the Change is about," Berhalter explained.
"We recognize that Qatar has made strides and there has been a ton of progress, but there's still some work to do. And it's just about, Be the Change basically represents everyone's individual opportunity to make change and to have change start with them. So I think it's appropriate that we have that here as well."
