Former WWE Superstar, Jeff Hardy has always been involved in a lot of controversy outside of the ring.
There is a very popular phrase, which says do not waste second chances, but for "The Charismatic Enigma" he has recorded more than 4 suspensions and 2 dismissals for abuse of prohibited substances.
He has been arrested more than once, leaving his reputation in tatters. It's no surprise that WWE doesn't seem to be interested in g him again, at least in the short term.
In 2009, Jeff was the face of the WWE, next to John Cena. A third suspension that was going to leave him out of the professional wrestling company again, Vince McMahon gave him the opportunity to go to rehab, to prevent that from happening.
The wrestler refused and with his contract expiring in that same month of August 2009, Hardy left the company in the best moment of his career. To get out of the programming at the top, they agreed to a match between Jeff and CM Punk, the loser would leave the company.
Jeff and his brother Matt Hardy returned to WWE in 2017, but unfortunately things didn't change much.
Jeff Hardy bigger than John Cena?
Those are big words, John Cena is the face of the WWE since Hulk Hogan, Stone Cold and The Rock. 'The man you can't see' has defined an era and the childhoods of young children watching America's biggest entertainment sport.
But... Jeff Hardy is very clear about it
"The way I was living life in my 20s and 30s... if I was living life the way I'm living life now, oh my gosh, there's no telling. I would probably be bigger than John Cena-today. I was born with such a gift to be a pro wrestler. It just felt so natural, like I was totally created to do this thing", said Jeff in an exclusive interview with WFAA.
Jeff Hardy's return to the TNA promotion has been a success, standing out as the World Tag Team Champions alongside his brother Matt. Despite his regrets, Jeff is determined to keep wrestling until he can't anymore.
Mixed reactions from pro wrestling fans
Fans on X's social media didn't waste a second to talk about Jeff Hardy's loud statements.
"He would definitely be bigger than he is now but not bigger than Cena"
"Is he really serious, he's no where near John Cena"
"In 2008-2009 Jeff Hardy was more popular than John Cena. Him being bigger than John Cena in the case of the company getting behind him like Cena, would've never happened because Vince didn't truly understand Jeff. I don't think anyone does"
"LMAOOO this is hilarious"
These were some of the comments made by people on X. From what you can read, they are divided on Jeff Hardy's opinion. We are left with imaginary scenarios of how the wrestler and his lifestyle have ruined what could have been a much higher profile career.
