The Indiana Fever finished the season with a 20-20 record, securing the No. 6 spot in the league standings. Despite a roster stacked with talent, including standout players Caitlin Clark, Aliyah Boston and Kelsey Mitchell, the team was eliminated in the first round of the playoffs. Now, fans are eager to see the team make significant upgrades to contend in 2025.
One player that has been the subject of much speculation is Dallas Wings forward Satou Sabally, who is set to become an unrestricted free agent.
After five seasons with the Wings, Sabally has hinted that she's looking forward to exploring her options in free agency, fueling rumors about a potential move.
"It's a lot of movement for me this offseason," Sabally said. "The decision of moving with a potentially different shoe brand and also the decision to change teams. I'll be a free agent this year. I feel like this is just super exciting."
A perfect fit
Since the end of the season, Indiana fans have been actively campaigning for the Fever to pursue Sabally, believing she would be a perfect fit alongside playmaker Caitlin Clark, who led the WNBA with 8.4 assists per game.
Their hopes were further stoked when Sabally liked a few comments on TikTok that mentioned Indiana, suggesting she might be open to the idea.
During the 2024 season, Sabally averaged 17.9 points, 6.4 rebounds, and 5.0 assists per game. Despite being limited to just 15 games due to a shoulder injury, she has since reassured fans that she's fully recovered and ready for action.
With her versatility and playmaking ability, she could be a key addition to any team looking to strengthen its roster.
Sabally, who was drafted No. 2 overall by the Wings in 2020, will be entering her sixth season in the league.
Her potential departure from Dallas could shift the balance of power within the WNBA, especially if she s a team like the Fever, who are looking to make a deeper playoff run next year.
