In commemoration of the bout and the Fiestas Patrias of the month, the World Boxing Council will present a special edition belt in the fight between the two fighters who will also be competing for the middleweight belts of the World Boxing Council (WBC), World Boxing Association (WBA), World Boxing Organization (WBO) and International Boxing Federation (IBF).
A Mexican work of art
In an exclusive presentation for "Noticias en la Manana" on Heraldo Television, the work of art made in the state of Puebla, Mexico, was made public. The belt features handmade details and finishes in marble and talavera, as a tribute to the typical artisan tradition of the state.
This beautiful creation is the work of two talented artisans from Puebla, Angelica Moreno and Matilde Juarez, who took about two months to make it. The center of the belt features the name "World Champion" inlaid on marble along with the WBC logo and initials, accompanied by flags of different countries, the inscription of the month of the fight and the name of the state of Puebla.
The belt, which weighs about 4 kilos, features on both sides the traditional cathedral of Puebla, meticulously painted in talavera and decorated with the plumeado technique, now with an elegant black color instead of the usual blue used in everyday craftsmanship to highlight its elegance hand-embroidered with diamond-shaped decorations symbolizing diamonds.
This is not the first time the World Boxing Council has made such a special belt. In fact, this will be the ninth occasion that the body has awarded a commemorative belt. The last time it was done was in May, for the fight between Canelo and John Ryder.
