- Boxing. Oleksandr Usyk's victory over Tyson Fury cost him dearly: He ends up in hospital with a broken jaw
Boxing fans have sparked a wild conspiracy theory, alleging that Oleksandr Usyk broke rules during his victory over Tyson Fury. Usyk's win made him the first undisputed heavyweight world champion since 1999, securing a split decision victory in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, after a thrilling match against the Gypsy King.
The fight saw an even start, with Fury gaining control in the middle rounds, only for Usyk to dominate the latter part of the bout. However, some viewers speculate that Usyk's resurgence between rounds seven and eight involved rule-breaking.
Footage shows Usyk putting something to his mouth while in his corner, leading to theories that he might have used an inhaler during the fight.
Despite these claims, there is no evidence ing the use of an inhaler and such allegations from a small group of Fury ers appear unfounded.
"Usyk's corner tried to hide the inhaler," a fan wrote.
Another wondered: "Did Usyk just take an inhaler in the corner?"
A big win
Usyk's decisive moment came in round nine when he landed several powerful punches on Tyson Fury. The Brit appeared dazed, stumbling around the ring before slumping against the ropes.
The referee counted it as an official knockdown, even though Fury did not hit the canvas, and the bell saved him from further punishment.
After the fight, Fury, who lost his unbeaten record, controversially claimed that he was the winner of the fight.
"I believe I won that fight," he noted.
"He won a few of those rounds but I won the majority.
"What can you do, one of them daft decisions in boxing.
"We've all put on a good fight, the best we can do.
"His country is at war so people are siding with a country at war but make no mistake, I won that fight in my opinion and I'll be back. I've got a rematch clause.
"I've thanked Jesus for all the victories that he has given me, I've had a split decision loss to a good little man, and I thank him again."
