- NFL. Canelo 's humility and professionalism harshly called into question ahead of Berlanga fight
- NFL. Terence Crawford strongly advised to not fight Canelo Alvarez by world class trainer
We're just a week away from seeing Canelo Alvarez enter a boxing ring once again. This time around, he will be facing a motivated Edgar Berlanga, who has done a fair share of trash-talking to match Alvarez's confidence.
Alvarez is coming off of an impressive victory over compatriot Jaime Munguia back in May. Despite calls from every boxing fan for Canelo to fight David Benavidez next, Alvarez decided to go a different route. The boxing world awaits the outcome of the Mexican's bout with Berlanga, as no one is sure of what he will do next. A potential fight against Terence Crawford has even been brought up.
Canelo is very open to a Dmitry Bivol rematch
But if Alvarez's words in a recent interview with BoxingScene are to be taken seriously, it could be Dmitry Bivol who gets the next shot at him - again.
I just go fight by fight. Right now, I'm 100 percent focused on Berlanga and then I'll come to other opponents in the future... You never know. There's always a possibility. If Bivol wins that fight, I'd like to take that chance for the rematch.
Bivol and Alvarez squared off in May 2022, with the Russian coming out victorious. Canelo was stepping up to light heavyweight for the fight, which he's done before, but Bivol is a whole different animal.
Bivol still has to defeat Artur Beterbiev on October 12 for a potential undisputed light heavyweight battle. Alvarez looked out of his depth against Bivol the first time around, but it's been clear that he wants a shot at revenge.
