Ashton Jeanty chooses the Las Vegas Raiders' greatest leader, but doesn't mention Maxx Crosby

The Las Vegas Raiders know that having a good quarterback is essential to lead the team and bring smiles to the faces of their fans. Proof of this is seven-time Super Bowl champion and investor and minority owner Tom Brady.

After acquiring Geno Smith to revitalize the quarterback position, they selected Ashton Jeanty in the NFL Draft to inject life into the backfield. And as a newcomer, he caused astonishment with a curious choice.

In conversation with Athlon Sports, Jeanty was asked who plays a prominent leadership role on the team, beyond defensive end Maxx Crosby, who has established himself as a team figurehead. In response, the running back replied:

On the offensive side, Geno [Smith], of course, just being the quarterback leading everybody, communicating. It's good to have a guy on both sides of the ball to lead your team.

The truth is that Smith, despite his recent arrival at the Raiders, already stands out with his play and leadership.

What does Geno think of Ashton?

Just a few days ago, Smith highlighted Jeanty's humility, but he also praised his approach to the game.

"Ashton is wise beyond his years. Despite his accomplishments and the pressure that comes with being a high draft pick, he remains incredibly humble and eager to learn. He's special with that ball in his hands."

His quick adaptation to the game and the team, his formidable strength, and his clean execution are characteristics that make Jeanty a strong candidate to become a standout figure on the team.
