It is the fight of the year, no doubt. Saul 'Canelo' Alvarez has declared himself ready to fight against an opponent that has been waiting for this opportunity for some time now. Edgar Berlanga looks to capitalize on his shot at the Mexican boxer when they both face off at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas tonight.

Canelo has been on a roll. He recently has made successful defenses of his four bels in the 168-pound boxing division, after winning his first title in that category back in December of 2020 when he defeated Callum smith by unanimous decision, and he has not stop since then.

In 2021 he defeated Caleb Plant to become the first undisputed Mexican champion after unifying all the titles of the division in November of that year. However, he was stripped from the IBF belt in July after choosing to battle Berlanga who is the WBA mandatory challenger, instead of the IBF mandatory fighter, William Scull.

Saul 'Canelo' Alvarez is coming off a strong win. It was a unanimous decision victory over fellow Mexican boxer Jaime Munguia in May, preceded by another impressive win over Jermell Charlo in September of 2023. At 34 years old he does not seem to lose a step, and he is still at the highest level of his career.

But Edgar Berlanga won't be a walk in the park. The Puerto Rican has been challenging Canelo sin a long time and Alvarez had stated that the fight would happen once he decided so, not when Berlanga said and it does seems like that has happened. However, the undefeated Berlanga began his career with 16 consecutive first-round knockouts and he is 22-0. He has added one more KO since.

If facing Canelo was not motivation enough, the Brooklyn native will be fighting for his first world title and he will be headlining his first ever pay-per-view event. So everyone is in for a treat this Saturday night in Las Vegas.
