Canelo Alvarez could not 'impose' himself on the elusive William Scull in their fight a few days ago in Saudi Arabia. Although the Mexican fighter won by unanimous decision, he could not punish his opponent as he could not stop him in his 'march' around the ring.

That was the first of four fights he signed with Riyadh Season and Turki Al-Sheikh and on September 12 he will face Terence Crawford (41-0).

Eddie Hearn and age condemn Saul Alvarez

Saul Alvarez (63-2-2) will turn 35 in July and after what was seen in Riyadh on May 3, Eddie Hearn, promoter with Matchroom Boxing, believes that this year the Mexican will retire.

I think the fight with Crawford will be his last fight. There is no information about it and I have not spoken to him, but after seeing the fight with David Avanesyan, who was incredibly negative, after Crawford, what can you do?

"Do you want to go to England and fight? Yes, I guess he might be interested," Hearn told a press conference. "But I don't know. I just think about 'father time', the body, the power... in fact, during the fight with Scull I thought 'I wouldn't be surprised if he didn't fight Crawford'."

Canelo Alvarez does not want to fight Terence Crawford

Some media outlets have already echoed that Canelo Alvarez is only fighting Crawford for the money he is being offered, and that in sporting that fight has never interested him, as he repeatedly stated before agreeing to fight Turki Alalshikh.

"He's never really liked the fight because I think he thinks, 'Why would I be given credit for beating someone three divisions below, two divisions now?'" Hearn said. "He moves a lot, he's good, he's awkward and he's going to be difficult, but obviously the money becomes so big that he will accept the fight. I think it's probably the training camps that will make Alvarez retire, it's a big strain on the body."
