Hello everybody and welcome to a big day of Formula 1 here on the MARCA in English live blog for Singapore Grand Prix race.
The start time for today's race at the Marina Bay Street Circuit is 13:00 BST, making it 14:00 CEST. If you're ing us in the United States, the start time is 08:00 ET / 05:00 PT.
The Formula 1 world championship may be one-sided this year, with back-to-back champion Max Verstappen way ahead on the leaderboard, but qualifying was anything but positive for the Red Bull team.
Verstappen was eliminated in Q2 and Checo Perez suffered the same fate in the worst weekend for Red Bull in the last five years. Carlos Sainz starts on pole, George Russell is in second while Charles Leclerc will be in third.
F1 Live Coverage - Singapore Grand Prix race
Sainz wins the Singapore Grand Prix!
An excellent win from the Ferrari man, as he maintained first position throughout despite the persistence of Norris, Russell and Leclerc.
Norris finishes second, Hamilton third and Charles Leclerc fourth. Verstappen's winning run ends as he finishes in fifth while Russell suffers a crash late on.
Sainz still leads...
Sainz remains ahead going into the final lap as he's doing a great job of using Norris to hold off the chasing pack. But can he hold on...?
Norris is getting close
Norris is closing in on leader Carlos Sainz, in what is promising to be a fascinating finish.
Russell closes in on Leclerc
Russell is fast approaching on Leclerc, with the Brit now having a serious chance of taking over the Monegasque. Sainz remains on top but he will have to be very wary of what's behind him from now on.
Things go south for Alonso
After just having come out of a terribly slow pit stop, Alonso has now gone off track to further dent his progress.
Verstappen pits
The Dutchman goes to the pits to change for medium tyres and comes out in 15th. A podium finish is looking unlikely for the Red Bulls today.
Sainz still ahead
Sainz remains one second ahead of Russell, while Norris isn't far off the Englishman in third. Hamilton and Leclerc are up next in fourth and fith respectively.
Not good for Red Bull
The two Red Bull drivers are struggling here. Verstappen and Perez are sixth and seventh respectively and there is a growing fear that they might not make the podium places.
Hamilton under fire
On Lap 24, Hamilton managed to get past Perez but he seemed to go off the track in order to do so.
"Hamilton went off the track. He went off," says the Mexican, who is demanding a penalty.
Safety car
The safety car is entering the track after Logan Sargeant hits the wall at Turn 8 a few laps ago.
Here's how things stand at the moment:
Fastest lap from Sainz
Sainz has recorded the fastest lap of the race so far for the second time. He is now almost three seconds ahead of Leclerc.
Leclerc to be sacrificed
George Russell has been informed that Ferrari are set to "sacrifice Leclerc". Mercedes expect the Monegasque driver to start dropping behind Sainz in order to create a gap in the front.
Sainz remains ahead
Sainz started out in front and that remains the case for now, with the Spaniard holding off Leclerc who is around one second behind him.
Verstappen is moving forward
Despite a terrible qualifying, Verstappen is determined to climb up the ranks and push for another win. The Dutchman has now overtaken Hulkenberg and is in eighth place.
We're underway!
Carlos Sainz manages to maintain his lead at the start but third-placed Charles Leclerc manages to get ahead of George Russell.
