Franco Colapinto not excited by Red Bull rumour

The 'Silly Season' in Formula 1 never stops, with the latest to being the rumor of Red Bull's possible interest in g Franco Colapinto, who has shone in his first five races with Williams.

The Argentine driver already has five points, much more than Logan Sargeant achieved in 41 F1 Grands Prix, who only collected one point in the United States 2023, so he has been targeted by several teams, including the energy drink team.

Franco Colapinto talks about his future in F1

Ahead of the Brazilian Grand Prix, the 21-year-old South American has yet to secure a Formula 1 seat for next year, where the only two available are with Racing Bulls and Sauber.

Faced with this, the Argentine is taking his future calmly, although he left a message to his team: "I think you should not ask me because I do not know the answer."

"But if Williams can't give me a seat, I think it would be normal for them to let me go somewhere else and get a better opportunity for the future, but I'm not the person to ask," he stressed in a press conference at Interlagos.

Red Bull, Colapinto's destiny?

It was when the 21-year-old Argentine referred to the rumor that puts him in a Red Bull seat, which could be VCARB's, and an imminent escalation of Liam Lawson to replace Checo Perez.

"I'm here with Williams this weekend and I'll try to do my best, because I've been looking forward to driving at Interlagos. I thought I wasn't going to be driving in Formula 1 next year and I still think so, so I really don't get excited about all the noise around. But we'll see," he insisted.

However, the South American is not losing sleep over staying in Formula 1, and if not in 2025, it could be in the medium-term future: "I would like to be in F1. I came late and Williams gave me this incredible opportunity. Everyone in the team trusted me and gave me an opportunity that I did not expect."

"So I try to do my best to show that I deserve a seat here. If it's not next year, hopefully it will happen in 2026 or 2027. I don't have much pressure or anything like that, I'm just trying to enjoy the moment and the opportunity. It has been my dream since I was a child and to be here is something special, so I'm enjoying it," he concluded.
