ArgentinaFunes Mori should have captaincy role

arella: Messi shouldn't lead Argentina

Soriano: Messi eats at a separate table

Even though he loves the Barcelona forward's individual talent, Daniel arella, the former captain of Argentina, has expressed his belief that Leo Messi should not be given La Albiceleste's captaincy.

Ramiro Funes Mori is, in his opinion, the man who should lead the team instead.

"It would take a weight off his shoulders [if Messi weren't given the captain's armband]," the two-time World Cup winner told Chilean publication El Mercurio.

"I don't know if that's fair, but that is what I think.

"I ire Messi, but I think his personality and way of being is withdrawn and timid."

Explaining why Funes Mori would better fit the role, the 63-year-old said that the Everton defender had the necessary character.

arella is not the first former Argentina great to question Messi's leadership skills, with Diego Maradona previously having voiced his own concerns.
