It was a long month of soccer in the Leagues Cup and now we have a champion, as Columbus Crew beat LAFC 3-1 in the final to capture another trophy to crown one of the most impressive runs an MLS team has had.
With two goals and an assist from Colombian Juan Camilo Hernández, the Columbus Crew won the t tournament between MLS and Liga MX and with this they obtained its ticket to the 2025 Concachampions.
"Cucho" Hernández, one of the biggest stars in the MLS in recent years, was the absolute star of this final that pitted the last two champions of the North American league against each other as the Crew won their 13th trophy in the last 22 years.
They way the Leagues Cup was won
Juan Camilo Hernández opened the scoring in the 45th minute in front of his 21,000 fans at Lower.com Field in Columbus, Ohio to put Crew up 1-0. However, Frenchman Olivier Giroud equalized in the 57th minute in his scoring debut with LAFC.
The game then moved on and everyone though it would go to penalty kicks, but Hernández avoided that by scoring Columbus' second goal in the 90+2 minute and 'Cucho' was also in charge of assisting the third goal scored by Canadian Jacen Russell-Rowe in the 90+4, unleashing joy in the stands.
Columbus, which had already defeated LAFC in the last MLS final, is the second champion of the Leagues Cup after Inter Miami, which last year won the inaugural edition led by newcomer Lionel Messi.
