Catherine Zeta-Jones and Michael Douglas are beaming with pride as they mark a major milestone in their family's journey: the graduation of their 22-year-old daughter, Carys.
The couple took to social media to celebrate the moment with heartfelt messages and joyful photos from the weekend's festivities at Brown University, the prestigious Ivy League institution located in Providence, Rhode Island.
Sharing a tender moment on Instagram, Zeta-Jones posted a photo of herself and her 80-year-old husband kissing Carys on either cheek.
"The night before graduation!!!! We are both such proud parents right now!! It's only just begun!!" the Chicago star captioned the sweet snapshot.
In the photo, the stunning Carys, dressed in an elegant full-length white gown, poses with a playful pout, while Douglas looks sharp in a navy blue suit and Zeta-Jones stuns in a tailored black two-piece ensemble.
Carys, who earned a degree in Film and International Relations, is the youngest child of the Hollywood power couple, who married in November 2000. The celebration continued on Zeta-Jones' Instagram stories, where she offered glimpses into the festive weekend.
One photo featured a celebratory cake adorned with the message, "Congratulations Graduation Class of 25," while another captured Carys with her classmates on the steps of the university, smiling and embracing in their caps and gowns. The actress also shared emotional moments of her daughter hugging fellow graduates and posing with friends, capturing the spirit of the day.
A proud chapter closes as their youngest leaves the nest
For Douglas and Zeta-Jones, Carys' graduation marks another chapter in their evolving family life. Their 24-year-old son Dylan also attended Brown, graduating in 2022. Douglas is also father to 46-year-old Cameron Douglas from his previous marriage to Diandra Luker, whom he divorced in 2000 after 18 years of marriage.
Reflecting on parenthood later in life, Douglas shared with AARP The Magazine in 2010 how having children shifted his perspective.
"My career was the most important thing in my life, followed by marriage and children. And it's completely reversed now. I never anticipated starting a family and the joy of raising kids at my age," he said.
