Ledisi Anibade Young was born in 1972 in New Orleans, Louisiana. After spending her childhood in Louisiana and her teenage years in California, Ledisi began her artistic career in 1990, in a local production of The Wiz. She studied opera and piano at the University of California, Berkeley, and in those years formed her funk band, "Anibade."

In 2000, Ledisi released her debut album, "Soulsinger", followed by "Feeling Orange but Sometimes Blue" (2002), which won the Outstanding Jazz Album at the California Music Awards in 2003. In 2006, the singer and her band signed a contract with the Verve Forecast label with which they released Lost & Found, which reached number 10 on Billboard's R&B Albums chart.

The game will be played on February 9 at the Super Dome in New Orleans and has special significance following the terrorist attack on New Year's Day. Jon Batiste will sing "The Star-Spangled Banner," and Lauren Daigle and Trombone Shorty will perform "America the Beautiful."
