CBS meteorologist Elise Finch was laid to rest in a poignant celebration of life ceremony on Tuesday, leaving her heartbroken husband struggling to come to with her sudden ing.
Colleagues lovingly ed the Channel 2 news weatherwoman, who had worked the morning shifts for 15 years, despite openly itting her dislike for early mornings. Her cause of death has not been disclosed to the public.
The emotional four-hour ceremony, held at Macedonia Baptist Church in Mount Vernon, New York, drew numerous attendees who gathered to pay their respects to Finch.
Her husband, Graig Henriques, expressed the family's ongoing struggle to understand her untimely departure, emphasizing her unique and irreplaceable presence.
Finch's disdain for early mornings
"A little known fact most viewers and everyone who did not work the early mornings, Elise was not exactly a morning person!" CBS anchor Maurice DuBois said.
"Despite the friendly person we all got to know around the office and on the air everyday. She needed a little extra time to fully wake up. After all, they did go on the air at 4:30 right?!
"You don't say hello ... she'd give you a glare! And don't dare ask about the weather!" he continued.
"She did get better as the hours progressed and about an hour in she's ready to go and happy. She would totally change from grumpy to happy."
Elise, also known as Elise Dione Finch Henriques, began her tenure at WCBS as a weekend meteorologist in 2007 and later delivered morning weather forecasts.
