Earthquake between Musk and Trump: Tesla CEO lashes out with harsh statements and defends DOGE team

The stage of harmony and solidarity between tech mogul Elon Musk and President Donald Trump seems to be going through a rough patch, after the billionaire resigned from the leadership of the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), and made strong comments against government decisions.

During an exclusive interview with CBS Sunday Morning, the Tesla owner did not hide his disappointment at what he called the high cost of the political bill, which last week was ed by Republicans in the House of Representatives.

"I was disappointed to see the huge spending bill, frankly, that increases the budget deficit, not just reduces it, and undermines the work that the DOGE team is doing," Musk said in an interview with 'CBS Sunday Morning'.

The disagreement between Elon Musk and Donald Trump

In defending DOGE's team, Musk is expressing his disagreement with Trump over a bill that seeks to extend the 2017 tax cuts, and among other things, also seeks to reduce tax credits for clean energy, boost spending on border security and impose work requirements for Medicaid.

"I think a bill can be big or it can be beautiful, but I don't know if it can be both. That's my personal opinion," Musk told CBS News of the legislation that still needs to be approved by the Senate, in a statement in which the tycoon refers to the name of the tax provisions package: "One Big Beautiful Bill Act", in honor of the way Trump referred to the bill, which the Congressional Budget Office estimates would raise the deficit by $3.8 trillion by 2034.

After stepping aside from the direction of DOGE, Elon Musk also revealed that he intends to reduce his involvement in government, after during the first months of the Trump istration, he implemented widespread cuts in almost all government agencies.
