- Shohei Ohtani's 50th home run ball reached auction and initial bid is a shocking six figure amount
- Dodgers hit into a game-ending triple play to see the Padres clinch a playoff spot and creep two games behind them
It was another close game in Dodger Stadium, but this time it was the home team who got the victory, as the Los Angeles Dodgers beat the San Diego Padres 4 to 3 thanks to another great performance from Shohei Ohtani and now the team needs one more win to capture the NL West title once again.
Shohei Ohtani opened up the scoring after walking in to start the game and then would later score on a Teoscar Hernandez hit to put the Dodger up 1-0. The Padres would not go away as in the top of the second inning, they would score twice to take an early lead.
The home would regain the lead in the fourth inning when Gavin Lux singled to bring Tommy Edman home to tie the score and then the Japanese star doubled to bring the third run of the game and the score was 3-2.
The Padres are not an easy team
Despite that, Fernando Tatis Jr. once again had a key moment in the game when he homered in the fifth to once again tie the score but it was definitely Shohei Ohtani's night, as the designated hitter had the last laugh.
In the sixth inning, with two men on, Ohtani singled to center field to bring home the go-ahead run that ultimately would be the winning run in the game. Shohei finished the night going 2 for 3 with a pair of runs batted in, he scored once and walked one time as well. He struck out one time in the game.
With this result, the Dodgers need one more win against the Padres to secure the Wester Division title, as they would be four games up with three to go if they were to win on Thursday. If the Padres win, the Dodgers would have to win at least two games against the rookies over the weekend and hope that the Padres drop at least once.
