Despite being pushed to a decisive game, Tennessee triumphed and continued their momentum into Omaha.
There, they clinched a dramatic walk-off win on the first day, followed by decisive victories over North Carolina and Florida State.
Similarly, Texas A&M demonstrated their prowess by going undefeated in their regional and super regional rounds.
The Aggies began with a commanding 8-0 win over Grambling, followed by a hard-fought victory against Texas.
They secured their regional title by defeating Louisiana.
In the super regionals, Texas A&M swept the Oregon Ducks, propelling them into the College World Series.
Their journey in Omaha saw them overcome Florida and Kentucky, culminating in a shutout victory against Florida to secure their spot in the championship series.
Notably, Tennessee and Texas A&M did not face each other during the regular season but did clash in the SEC tournament in late May.
The Volunteers emerged victorious in that encounter, winning 7-4 en route to their SEC tournament title.
