- Deion Sanders Jr. breaks silence on attacks against Coach Prime: 'Shit be crazy, dawg'
- Deion Sanders praises Barack Obama despite belittling comments about the Buffaloes
There is no question that when Deion Sanders arrived in Bolder, Colorado, the message was loud and clear for the rest of the nation; turn the Colorado Buffaloes into a winning program.
Now, half a season into his second year, it appears that the results are coming in, after a very promising 3-0 start in 2023 but a disappointing 1-8 finish. Now, the work that Coach Prime has done has earned the respect of everyone, including the fiercest college football analysts and commentators.
"We should be appreciating and complimenting Deion Sanders for what he does on the field, not for the show, and that's what irritated a lot of people," ESPN's Paul Finebaum said on 'The Matt Barrie Show' on Sunday. "He was getting credited, and we were being asked ridiculous questions."
Bowl season in the horizon
With a 5-2 record, the Buffaloes are nearing bowl eligibility and could be back on the college football rankings soon. While playoffs are a bit far for them at this point, there is no question that the talent that Deion Sanders has with him, could very much translate into more recognition, especially after dealing with situations that no other coach has to deal with.
"I give him major credit for dealing with injuries, the Travis Hunter situation, his two sons both have been banged up, and really go out and convincingly win games; that's hard to do," Paul Finebaum continued.
"This is a bowl team now. I'm sure some of our friends up and down the hall where you live and work will have them in the playoffs tomorrow morning, they're probably not going to be in the playoffs, but they have a very narrow path to at least take a swing."
The last time the Buffaloes played in a bowl game it was 2016. It was a good year for Colorado, as they finished with 10 wins in that season. For 2024, that is a reachable goal but there is still work to be done. They are 3-1 in the Big 12 and there is a lot to look forward to.
