Deion Sanders joked that Shedeur Sanders should win the Heisman Trophy after Travis Hunter stole one of his white caps back in August, as Coach Prime's 'adopted' son falls down his rankings.

Hunter has been the revelation of the season for the Colorado Buffaloes by starring as their key two-way player in the cornerback and wide receiver roles, as he becomes one of the favorites to win the NCAA award yet his head coach has different ideas.

"Give it to Shedeur," Deion Sanders said to Well Off Media, humorously backing his quarterback son to win the NCAA 2024 Heisman Trophy ahead of Hunter after the receiver's stunt with his hat.

And if the 21-year-old, who has eight touchdowns this season, seemed to be fazed by Sanders' nomination, he didn't appear to show it following their win over the Cincinnati Bearcats.

"I done stole the whip," Hunter posted to Instagram, after appearing to steal the 57-year-old Super Bowl winners' car as well as also going on to steal a pair of his shoes gifted to him by the NBA's Ja Morant.

Colorado Buffaloes' gravy train rolls on

Hunter has 757 yards from 60 receptions and eight touchdowns in 2024, whilst Shedeur has thrown for 2,591 yards with a 73.3% completion rate from 300 attempts, for 21 touchdowns and just six interceptions as they strike up a formidable partnership.

Both are certainly going to be drafted into the NFL in 2025, with Sanders tipped as a first round pick whilst Hunter most likely will also be one, and that's clear from their results with the Buffaloes.

The Boulder-based team are 6-2 for the season and have only lost to the Nebraska Cornhuskers and Kansas State Wildcats as they book their place in one of the Bowl games with four regular season games to go.

Their 34-23 victory over the Bearcats was done in front of 53,000 fans showing how popular Coach Prime's football is, and they will next look to make their record 7-2 against the Texas Tech Red Raiders at the Jones AT&T Stadium on November 9.
