Drelon Miller stole the spotlight in the game against Kansas.

The loss to the Kansas Jayhawks was a tough blow for the Colorado Buffaloes. However, amid the sea of errors that led to the defeat, Drelon Miller was one of the few who lived up to expectations, earning praise from head coach Deion Sanders.

In his first year with the Buffs, the true freshman has slowly begun to stand out in Colorado's offense. Since they look for him primarily in short-yardage situations, Miler only has 30 receptions, 262 yards, and three touchdowns; however, he also tends to get his team out of the tightest situations.

The game against Kansas was no exception. With the Buffs down 20-7, quarterback Shedeur Sanders led a near-perfect drive, which ended with a spectacular catch by Miller in the end zone, to bring his team within 20-14 at halftime.

More players like Miller

Although Colorado lost the game 37-21, Sanders didn't miss the chance to parise the young receiver's effort. "He's phenomenal. Especially for a freshman, the game of these magnitudes, and he's showing up and showing out," said the coach at the press conference after the game.

He praised Miller's cool-headedness, saying, "The moment is not too big for him. He plays hard, he practices hard, he's smart, don't make many mental errors." Furthermore, Sanders assured that he is the kind of player he wants on his team, "We want to recruit more of those type of young men."

It is not the first time that Coach Primehas showered praise on Miller. After last week's game against the Utah Utes, Sanders assured that the receiver "doesn't complain. He just goes out there and does his job."

The future is bright for Miller

Although his contribution this year has been modest, it should be noted that Miller is still in the shadow of Travis Hunter. However, the star receiver and safety is in his last year with the team and has already declared for the 2025 NFL Draft, opening the door for Miller to show his full potential.

Without Hunter in the lineup and under Sanders' mentorship, there is no doubt that we will have great news from Drelon Miller very soon.
