Ohio State may have just won the National Championship, but work is already underway to find out who will be the new quarterback with Will Howard moving on.

Howard is going to be drafted into the NFL ahead of next season, meaning there is a huge hole in the team that needs to be addressed by head coach Ryan Day.]

The expectation is that Julian Sayin, Tavien St. Clair, and Lincoln Kienholz are the three players who will be competing the most for the position. Sayin was QB2 this season but he may not have it all his way when it comes to taking the role.

Day shares the details

Day spoke to WBNS 10TV recently to discuss this very topic, meaning fans now have some insight into who the new quarterback will be for the Buckeyes.

"It'll be a very fierce competition," the Buckeyes HC declared. "You know, Lincoln and Julian and then Tavien. We're excited to see those guys compete. We'll chart everything and everything will be a competition.

"I feel like there'll be a lot of growth coming out of the spring and an opportunity for these guys to take it and run," Day observed.

"It's one thing when you're a backup, it's another thing when you're actually running it. And I've shared with those guys, especially with Lincoln and Julian who were there last year."

St. Clair is viewed as the wild card in this fight to be the Buckeyes quarterback.

"You have to walk different, you gotta move different, you have to practice different. Tavien is just coming in but Tavien spent two weeks here too, and that was great for our freshmen to see how these guys operate in the last two weeks of the season," Day said.
