The Colorado Buffaloes quarterback Shedeur Sanders recently expressed his for Malik Nabers during the NFL Combine as hype around a move to the New York Giants to kick off his NFL career continues to grow.
As a highly regarded prospect for the 2025 NFL Draft, Sanders has attracted interest from multiple teams, but particularly from the Giants, who hold the third overall pick and need a quarterback, thus making them a possible destination.
And it seems as though he's already striking up a chemistry with the 21-year-old Nabers, who plays as a wide received and enjoyed a standout rookie season, by trying to help him navigate how to handle the media.
Nabers has faced scrutiny from the press over past remarks, which have been deemed inappropriate for a public setting, and Sanders discussed their growing friendship and how he has advised Nabers on handling the pressures of reporters.
"It was truly just getting to know him," Sanders told reporters. "Because, like I said, we have relatability because the media painted him a certain way when he said that.
"So I went through scrutiny also. So I told him, bro, you can't, certain things you can't, you can't say, cause they wanna paint a certain type of picture of you, and don't let that happen.
"So since then, he's been good, he's been smiling, he's been fun, even when he's frustrated. And I just said, just take it day by day. But I was able to understand him."
Giants links to Sanders grows
In early February, Nabers spoke highly of Sanders during an interview with SiriusXM NFL Radio leading up to Super Bowl LIX, further fueling speculation about the Giants' interest in the quarterback with the 22-year-old boasting considerable potential.
In his final season at Colorado, he completed 4134 yards for 37 touchdowns and a 74.0% ing accuracy, as well as allowing just 10 interceptions. Additionally, he contributed four rushing touchdowns, making him one of ESPN's top-rated quarterback prospects for 2025.
And the Giants' quarterback situation remains uncertain at the MetLife after axing Daniel Jones, whilst Drew Lock and Tommy DeVito additionally saw some playing time but failed to impress too. So could they move for Shedeur?
"He's been around a long time," Nabers said of Sanders on February 6. "He's been a part of maybe the best NFL player (Deion Sanders) in the world when he was playing.
"He has a football background. I've been watching him for a long time. Me and him been in the same recruiting class, so I didn't bump heads with him at camp...
"He has another crazy arm talent. He gives his guys the opportunity to go make plays. He's not scared. He wants to win, and he's a leader."
