Deion Sanders has built a reputation for developing elite talent, and Julian Lewis is the latest quarterback looking to benefit from the Coach Prime effect. The freshman from Georgia's Carrollton High School has already turned heads with his impressive arm talent, quick decision-making, and ability to deliver inch-perfect es. However, despite his potential, Lewis is facing a steep challenge in Colorado's quarterback room.

A recent video of Lewis throwing in practice sparked excitement, with fans marveling at his mechanics and accuracy. His father, T. Carlton Lewis, reposted the clip with a clear message: "Day 3 with 6 months to learn and prepare #TrustGod #KeepWorking." The message reflects the reality of Lewis' situation-raw talent alone won't be enough. He has a long road ahead before securing the starting job.

The QB battle heats up in Boulder

While Lewis is making a strong case, he isn't the only quarterback competing for the Buffs' QB1 spot. Colorado recently added Kaidon Salter, a dual-threat playmaker from Liberty, who brings a wealth of experience with over 5,800 ing yards and 2,000 rushing yards in his college career. Salter's proven ability as a starter makes him a serious contender to lead the offense in 2025.

Adding to the mix is Ryan Staub, a returning player entering his third season at Colorado. Although he has seen limited action, he will also be looking to prove himself during training camp.

Offensive coordinator Pat Shurmur made it clear that there are no guarantees in this competition. "You bring in new players, and they come in and compete their b-- off. Our responsibility as coaches is to make sure we play the best player," Shurmur said. He emphasized that Colorado's quarterback depth is a strength, calling it "the healthiest QB room in the country."

As spring practice continues, Julian Lewis must prove he is ready to take control of the offense. His raw ability is undeniable, but with seasoned competition in the mix, the battle for QB1 in Boulder is far from settled.
