Aaron Rodgers remained stoic on the sideline as Greg Zuerlein hit a game-winning, 54-yard field goal for the New York Jets with 10 seconds left to play in Sunday's Week 16 clash against the Washington Commanderss at MetLife Stadium.
Rodgers, 40, did not celebrate or smile. He just clapped slowly while looking on into the distance, almost as if thinking about how next season might unfold. Las Vegas Raiders wide receiver Davante Adams is reportedly the number one priority for him and the Jets.
The former Green Bay Packers quarterback has full from the coaching staff, general manager and ownership when it comes to making offseason moves.
Adams, 31, caught 68 touchdowns from Rodgers during their time together in Green Bay. He is under contract for 2024 ($17 million guaranteed) and Jets will reportedly stop at nothing to reunite the duo.
Should the Jets trust Aaron Rodgers?
Rodgers will undoubtedly make a difference on the field, but his offseason decision to sign wide receivers Randall Cobb and Allen Lazard did not pan out as expected. Jets (6-9) failed to reach the postseason.
The 30-28 win over the Commanders, who nearly pulled off an incredible second-half comeback after trailing 27-7 at the break, means nothing. And now Rodgers wants more former Packer buddies with him, not just Adams.
He is reportedly also interested in pulling off a trade for Packers running back Aaron Jones or sign free agent AJ Dillon. Hopefully, for the Jets, Rodgers is right.
