The official schedule for the 2025 NFL season was revealed a few days ago by the league, but it's still making waves.
The truth is that the Cleveland Browns have not benefited from the schedule because their games do not take place in prime time.
Despite this, the reason is believed to be the inconsistencies of the team, which has yet to decide who will replace starting QB Deshaun Watson, who will miss most of the 2025 season after suffering a setback while recovering from a ruptured Achilles tendon. Joe Flacco, Kenny Pickett and rookies Dillon Gabriel and Shedeur Sanders are competing for the job, but nothing is certain. Also, it would appear that the NFL doesn't expect much improvement from the Browns, who had a 3-14 record last season.
Not one to sugarcoat the situation, however, was Cleveland veteran Shelby Harris. Speaking on "Honor the Land," the defensive tackle commented on the matter:
I'll say it like this, you know, they can count us out all they want to. It's up to us to go into the season and start whooping people's asses. I get it. Last year wasn't the season that we expected, and now this year they're going to say we didn't get prime time because of all of the quarterback controversy. Who cares? Screw 'em.
The fight for the starting QB job
With four options to fill the quarterback position, the Browns will have a tough decision to make and the option of releasing one of them is not out of the question.
Shedeur Sanders is ed by Dillon Gabriel, who was acquired by the Browns during the third round of the Draft, is one of their competitors. In addition, options include Joe Flacco and Kenny Pickett, who were already with the team, and Deshaun Watson - a 2024 starter - who is recovering from his Achilles injury.
And although Sanders has shown great results, the Browns, for the moment, do not have a clear starter. For this reason, each of the contenders will have to push themselves to the limit.
What's in store for the Cleveland Browns?
The 33-year-old is not wrong. The team has no primetime games and will travel to London to face Minnesota Vikings in Week 5.
Despite the QB position, the running back position has also generated controversy as the Nick Chubb era could have its days numbered. The Browns also made double picks at that position in the draft, with Quinshon Judkins and Dylan Sampson selected in the second and fourth rounds.
However, Cleveland is solely responsible for getting a game on a better schedule, as a Week 18 matchup against Cincinnati Bengals with the AFC North or a playoff berth could get them the target.
