The Dallas Cowboys offseason got a lot louder earlier this year when DeMarcus Lawrence, the outgoing veteran rusher, didn't mince words about his departure. Lawrence publicly stated he didn't think the Cowboys were going to win a Super Bowl and that didn't sit well with Micah Parsons.

Parsons fired back immediately, calling Lawrence's comments "Clown" in an X post that caught fire. Lawrence didn't let it go either, replying: "Maybe if you spent less time tweeting and more time winning, I wouldn't have left."

The social media clash made headlines, but Parsons himself had been largely silent since the digital dust-up. That changed this week.

Parsons believes new Cowboys culture will be built on ability and connection

At the Cowboys' annual Reliant HR Derby, the All-Pro linebacker opened up for the first time about the situation and made it crystal clear where he stands moving forward.

"For me, it's all about setting the tone, about what the locker room is," Parsons said. "We ain't going to put up with nothing, we aren't going to tolerate the dumb stuff that was going on. It's a new regime, new culture, I'm not saying other guys weren't culture builders, some things are just tired. Obviously, if something isn't working, it's good that you got new guys to fix it, me, CeeDee, Dak."

It's clear Parsons is planting his flag as one of the new culture leaders under defensive coordinator Matt Eberflus and offensive coordinator Brian Schottenheimer. And according to him, the team environment is already shifting in the right direction.

"Just a new regime, guys are going to get closer, we're going to relate," Parsons added. "It's hard when you got a bunch of guys that are older, and it's hard to get that relationship. But now, we've all came in together, we all around the same age, hang out more. You saw us working out together, that's not something I've seen or been apart of in the past unless you went to OTAs."
