George Pickens has officially landed in Dallas, and he's wasting no time making headlines. After being traded from the Pittsburgh Steelers, the 23-year-old wide receiver s a Cowboys team hungry for a deep playoff run, and he's already building chemistry with star receiver CeeDee Lamb.
In his first appearance as a Cowboy, Pickens praised Lamb's explosiveness and versatility. "He's super dynamic," Pickens told reporters. "I think we're going to feed off each other. Defenses won't be able to focus on just one of us."
The arrival of Pickens gives quarterback Dak Prescott a potent one-two punch in the ing game. With Lamb able to move more freely into the slot and Pickens stretching the field outside, Dallas may now have one of the most dangerous receiving tandems in the league.
Leaving Pittsburgh behind
Pickens didn't shy away from questions about his exit from the Steelers. Rumors of tension and a strained relationship with the coaching staff followed him throughout the 2024 season, despite his solid performance, finishing with 900 receiving yards and three touchdowns.
"I can't control how people view me," Pickens said. "What I can control is how I grow. Everyone has to evolve, and I'm focused on doing that here. The Cowboys already have a winning culture, and I'm just grateful to be part of it."
Pickens has one year left on his rookie contract. While there's no immediate word on an extension, Dallas seems content to let him prove his value before making a long-term decision.
Legendary praise and big expectations
Hall of Famer DeMarcus Ware is already on board. In a recent appearance on Kay Adams' show, Ware applauded the move and highlighted how it could open up even more space for Lamb.
"You've got two deep threats now. It changes everything," Ware said. "You can throw to either one, and defenses can't cheat. It was a great trade."
With big talent, fresh motivation, and early chemistry, the Pickens-Lamb pairing could redefine the Cowboys' offense this season, and maybe even lead them back to the NFC Championship game.
