Kansas City Chiefs star Travis Kelce is proving he has talent beyond the football field, earning high praise for his acting debut in FX's horror drama Grotesquerie.
Directed by Max Winkler, the series introduced Kelce to the world of scripted television, and according to Max's father, Hollywood icon Henry Winkler, he delivered a standout performance.
"My son directed Mr. Kelce, Trav, and said he was a wonderful actor," Winkler told TMZ.
"I saw the show. He was great."
Kelce's acting skills receive high praise
This isn't the first time Winkler has spoken about Kelce's acting abilities. Following the Grotesquerie premiere, the Happy Days legend recalled meeting the three-time Super Bowl champion before a Chiefs game. Kelce had worn a Fonzie T-shirt, a nod to Winkler's iconic character, leading to a memorable interaction between the two.
"You really think he's just a football player," Winkler said during an interview on SiriusXM's The Spotlight with Jessica Shaw.
"He's really good. He's a natural."
Kelce's professionalism and openness on set were also praised by Grotesquerie co-star Niecy Nash-Betts. In an interview with PEOPLE, she described Kelce as "lovely to have on set" and "very professional." She ired his willingness to take direction and embrace the learning process.
"Travis was very open. If there was a note or a suggestion given, he was so amenable," Nash-Betts shared.
"I love that he didn't come in acting like, 'I know everything and I know it all.'"
Kelce is no stranger to television, having previously starred in the reality dating series Catching Kelce, made an appearance on Moonbase 8, and currently hosting Prime Video's Are You Smarter than a Celebrity?
Despite his growing presence in Hollywood, Kelce isn't ready to leave the football field just yet. He recently confirmed that he will return to the Chiefs for the 2025 season, delaying any full-time acting ambitions for at least another year.
With glowing reviews from Hollywood insiders and a natural on-screen presence, Kelce's future in entertainment looks just as promising as his legendary football career.
