Adrian Peterson just had an unfortunate run-in with authorities. The former Vikings running back was arrested Thursday night by Minnesota police and taken to the county jail after participating in the team's draft day festivities.
Thursday night was supposed to be a joyous night for Peterson. The former running back was one of the guests at the Vikings' draft party at U.S. Bank Stadium in Minneapolis, Minnesota, to witness the first round of the 2025 NFL Draft.
Press reports claim that Peterson participated in the festivities alongside thousands of fans who watched the Vikings select guard Donovan Jackson with the 24th overall pick. However, Peterson's night soon took an unexpected turn.
Peterson's arrest
TMZ Sports reported the 2012 season MVP was stopped at 3:20 a.m. CST in an Audi Q5. The arresting officer reported Peterson was driving 83 mph in a 55 mph zone. The officer suspected the former player was intoxicated, and when he istered a breathalyzer, he blew 0.14. The legal limit in Minnesota is 0.08.
Peterson was booked into the Hennepin County Jail on charges of 4th-degree DWI. Although he was mugshot, the player was released at 7:30 a.m. CST on $4,000 bail. The future Hall of Famer will appear in court on May 9 in Minneapolis.
Peterson's legal troubles
This isn't the first time the former Vikings star has run into trouble with the law. In 2014, he was accused of child abuse against his four-year-old son. In 2018 and 2019, he had problems for defaulting on a couple of loans. In 2022, he was arrested at the Los Angeles airport for a domestic violence incident against his wife.
After retiring in 2021, Peterson left a legacy of 14,918 yards and 120 touchdowns on 3,230 carries. Although he never won an NFL championship, he was selected to the Pro Bowl seven times and was named an All-Pro four times.
