The Minnesota Vikings owners slammed the door on Aaron Rodgers and are committed to J.J. McCarthy

The saga titled "Aaron Rodgers" continues to drag on with several more chapters, and it's starting to become a headache for the Pittsburgh Steelers-the only team that has currently offered a job to the legendary NFL quarterback, who still hasn't given the franchise a response.

The Steelers have been waiting for a decision from Rodgers for nearly three months. However, the quarterback was hoping for offers from other teams-and the reality is, they never came. If he doesn't accept the Steelers' offer, Rodgers would essentially be inactive for the 2025 season, and retirement would become a serious possibility.

A month before the NFL Draft, it was leaked that Aaron Rodgers wanted to play for the Minnesota Vikings-a playoff team last year with a roster clearly capable of contending again in the NFC. But the offer never came, even though Rodgers reportedly promised to lead the team to the Super Bowl.

Vikings Co-Owner Mark Wilf Praised J.J. McCarthy

One of Rodgers' pitches to the Vikings, aside from winning a Super Bowl, was his willingness to help develop the team's 2024 first-round rookie, J.J. McCarthy, who suffered a major injury during the preseason and missed the entire year. However, all signs now point to the Vikings putting their trust in the former Michigan Wolverines quarterback.

When Will Aaron Rodgers Finally Sign?

Vikings co-owner Mark Wilf has expressed full confidence that J.J. McCarthy will take over as the team's starting quarterback, and he's also excited about the leadership the young QB has shown in Minnesota.

"He has a natural magnetism as a leader. He really has it," Wilf told Paul Allen of KFAN "The talent is there. Coach [Kevin] O'Connell keeps praising how he's handled everything, and from an off-the-field perspective, we couldn't be happier. So everything is trending in the right direction, and we're going to J.J. to have the success we want him to have."

In last year's preseason, J.J. McCarthy threw two touchdowns, and Vikings fans were completely thrilled. But after the game, he experienced discomfort in his knee, and medical evaluations revealed a complete meniscus tear that sidelined him for the season.

With Sam Darnold, the Vikings went 14-3 and made the playoffs. Now that Darnold has moved on to the Seattle Seahawks, it's J.J. McCarthy's time to take over.
