Jayden Daniels, the Washington Commanders' electrifying rookie quarterback, believes Travis Hunter has what it takes to maintain his two-way dominance at the professional level. Speaking at a charity event for Raising Cane's, Daniels praised the Colorado star, who recently won the Heisman Trophy, calling him "a special player."
Hunter's groundbreaking season saw him excel as both a wide receiver and a cornerback, a feat rarely seen at any level of football. Naturally, this has sparked debates among NFL scouts and analysts about whether he can continue to shine on both sides of the ball in the pros. While some experts suggest his NFL future may lean heavily toward cornerback, with occasional receiver duties, Daniels isn't doubting Hunter's abilities.
"I know he's probably going to say he can play both ways," Daniels told TMZ Sports. "And respectfully so. He should be able to go out there and believe in his abilities and believe in his talent. He's a special player." Daniels expressed confidence in Hunter's potential, regardless of how he's ultimately utilized in the league. "We'll see what unfolds for him at the next level, but just know I'm always rooting for him."

Daniels cheers for Heisman winner
Daniels, who is himself having a stellar debut NFL season with over 3,300 ing yards, 737 rushing yards, and 28 combined touchdowns, knows a thing or two about defying expectations. As a rising star and the 2023 college football player of the year, he welcomed Hunter to the Heisman fraternity with enthusiasm.
While Daniels didn't shy away from the possibility that an NFL organization might limit Hunter's dual-role opportunities, he acknowledged the unpredictability of such decisions. "I can't speak for the organization, but I think they'll use him however they see fit," Daniels said. "He's an athlete, and I'm sure he'll give them plenty of reasons to let him try."
Whether Hunter's name makes headlines for offensive or defensive feats-or both-remains to be seen. For now, Daniels, like many fans, will be rooting for the two-way phenom to shine in his NFL career. "The next chapter is his to write," Daniels added. "And I'm excited to see it unfold."
