- Gaming. PS5 Pro vs. PlayStation 5: technical differences between Sony's consoles
- Gaming. Nintendo Switch 2 | Rumors, expectations, dates and more
On November 7, the launch of PS5 Pro, the improved version of the already known Sony PlayStation console, will take place. However, there is no need to wait until this day to see what it is like almost in person, since the first unboxings have already begun. That is to say, different specialists, content creators, etc. have received a unit of the console to show us what it is like, among other things.
In this sense, one of the most outstanding videos that best teaches us about the console is the one shared by the colleagues at IGN America. In this video, the person in charge of exposing all the contents of the box takes his time to reveal step by step, and one by one, all the components of the console. Interestingly, he prepares a standard PS5 beforehand so that we can make a much more direct and accurate comparison.
This is the PS5 Pro
In of components, we can see that it basically has almost the same ones. However, I remind you that the base is separate, and this is why during the unboxing we can see more than one box. This is certainly a pity, since we are talking about an almost basic element of the console itself. Be that as it may, the issue at hand on this occasion is not that. Focusing on the PS5 Pro, we see that the design is practically identical to that of the normal PlayStation 5 beyond the side stripes that differentiate them.
Therefore, the appearance is tremendously similar, although the design of the new PS5 Pro does seem a little more attractive. It may be because it is new, but I like how those side lines look. In of size, they are almost identical, but the base of the PS5 Pro is thinner and less bulky. Therefore, it is more discreet, and very slightly reduces (the difference is practically nil, but it exists) the height of the console when the aforementioned stand is added. The interesting thing about the video is that, along with all these details, its specifications are reviewed.
At the same time, they show us several equivalences, highlighting that the performance of their GPU should be similar to that of an RTX 4070 or an RX 6700. In the process, they also offer some direct comparisons, so we can see the in-game differences between different games. Of course, IGN is not the only one who has shared its unboxing. Some content creators, such as TheGrefg, have also shown the console, so if you prefer to see it in Spanish, you can also do so.
As you would expect, this is a much less technical and more -oriented analysis. However, in the comparison made by TheGrefg, it can be seen more precisely that it is much thinner, but this is justified because the PS5 Pro is a digital version console, so it is necessary to buy the disc drive separately. This is a decision that I personally do not like, as it makes the final product quite expensive.
