An umbrella held by Coco Gauff broke in high winds during her WTA Finals semi-final meeting with fellow American Jessica Pegula in Cancun, Mexico on Saturday.

Gauff, the third seed, went on to lose 6-2, 6-1, while the wild weather conditions forced a suspension in the second semi-final between world number one Aryna Sabalenka and Iga Swiatek.

Poland's Swiatek led 2-1 on serve in the first set when play was brought to a premature conclusion, with the match scheduled to resume on Sunday.
