On the positive side, UFC President Dana White leads arguably the most entertaining combat sports organization. There is no competition for the Ultimate Fighting Championship in of reach, level of performance, and overall success. On the negative aspect, there is an ongoing anti-trust lawsuit playing out against the UFC right now. An important amount of sensitive information has leaked or been made public that could lead to Dana White's demise as the company's CEO. Right before WME's purchase from Zuffa in 2016, there were a number of emails from WME executive Brent Richard voicing concerns about White and asking for a plan that would eventually remove him from his position.
Why would WME want to get rid of Dana White?
Listed on that email are reasons of concern before the big purchase went through. On the list of roblems there were a fighter lawsuit (ongoing right now), pay-per-view volatility, competition in the market against other promotions, and Dana White himself. However, things didn't work out well for that particular executive as Dana White signed a new deal back in 2019. Dana White has been a polarizing figure throughout his entire career but the current anti-trust lawsuit from former fighters Cung Le, Nathan Quarry, Jon Fitch, Brandon Vera, Luis Javier Vazquez, and Kyle Kingsbury. Together, they sued the UFC and former parent company Zuffa. Both stand accused of violating antitrust laws to the detriment of 1,200 former and current UFC fighters.
Dana White's monopoly on mixed martial arts is being put in question due to the way they do business. Fighter pay and competition against other promotions is what fighters complain about the most against Dana White. Injuries that lead to CTE or even death is another main concern in this lawsuit and these are practices Dana White still hasn't addressed in the fighters' benefit. In fact, White is doubling down on that by bringing Power Slap to the West. A sport that has been criticized multiple times by media personalities for potentially causing CTE on competitors. White has always defended it by arguing it's recent growth and success.
