- UFC. UFC Cannonier vs Imavov Prize Money: How much money will tonight's fighters make?
There are many memorable rivalries in MMA history, not just the UFC. Before the UFC acquired it, the Pride championship probably had some of the most ruthless and memorable rivalries. But the UFC has one that is probably amongst the most heated and ruthless ones. We are talking about Daniel Cormier vs Jon Jones, two fighters who got extremely personal in their back and forths. Daniel never got to defeat Jones and it seemed like they had buried the hatchet. But the new 'Fight Inc.' UFC docies tells a different story, it seems the UFC commentator still doesn't want to have anything to do with Jon Jones. Those defeats really left a mark on Daniel and you can even tell from the faces he makes that he still feels anger towards Jon Jones.
During an episode of the new 'Fight Inc.' UFC docies on Roku, there is a moment when commentator Jon Anik is speaking on the phone with Jones. Cormier happened to be in the room as the call was taking place on speaker. Jones relizes Cormier is listening and starts talking to him about how he has succeeded in his career as a commentator. You can tell Daniel Cormier feels uncomfortable having to return the praise to the man he was never able to beat. At the end of the call, Jones seems happy with the exchange but Cormier flips off the champion straight to the camera.
Have Jon Jones or Daniel Cormier responded to this?
That talk they had on the clio was from the UFC 285 preparation, when Jon Jones returned to fight Ciryl Gane for the Heavyweight championship. It is unclear whether Jon Jones has seen this footage or what he thinks of it. He hasn't tweeted since June 2 and his Instagram page has him enjoying trips to diffrent parts of the U.S. Cormier has also said nothing. It sure will be interesting to see how both of these legends react iwth each other when they get some time in the same room. Jones appeared happy with the exchange but Cormier definitely wasn't.
