- UFC. UFC 303 war of titans: Pereira and Prochazka to 'save' McGregor's absence
- UFC. Conor McGregor calls Khabib Numagomedov a terrorist after Russian police gym raid
Although Jiri Prochazka is one of the toughest fighters out there, he is set to fight Alex Pereira for the Light Heavyweight championship at UFC 303 today. For the Light Heavyweight title, the fighters need to weight below 205 pounds and Alex Pereira has always managed to be on point despite actually being considered a heavyweight. The last time he fought, he gained 30 pounds within 24 hours after his weigh-in. Something similar happened this morning ahead of UFC 303. Pereira moved up from 204.5 pounds to 230. That is more than 25 pounds in weight that he gined back. We still don't know how he does it but that difference in weight is absolutely bonkers for any fighters. Pereira will get his chance to defend his title against a ruthless opponent who already lost against him.
Alex Pereira replaces Conor McGregor
The Brazilian champion has already started to replace Conor Mcgregor as the most talked about and exciting talent in the UFC. There is no news outlet that doesn't write stories or feature him on debate tables. Pereira is already a two-division champion as Conor McGregor was but he is currently in a perfect position to potentially make history in the company. Should he defeat Jiri Prochazka in this fight, there is a good chance that Dana White considers something that has never been done before in the UFC. that 'Poatan' took this fight in short notice after Conor McGregor had to drop out of the main event due to a busted up pinky toe.
Alex Pereira vs Jon Jones or Tom Aspinall?
It's never been done before, but Alex Pereira wouldn't need to drop weight if he moved up to the heavyweight division in search for a third belt. If he does this and beats his opposition there, it's fairly possible we could be talking about arguably the bst UC fighter in history. Before that happens, Jon Jones needs to return to the octagon to fight Stipe Miocic and he also potentially needs to fight interim heavyweight champion, Tom Aspinall. Pereira would need to at least have a couple of fights in that division in order to get his shot at the title.
