For some strange reason, it kind of feels like the UFC is rapidly moving towards a new super fight that could happen in 2025. The new major star in the posrts is Brazilian pound-for-pound champion Alex Pereira, he is already considered the scariest man on the planet for many. Currently, Pereira is still trying to sweep the Light Heavyweight division as his next opponent seems to be second-ranked Magomed Ankalev. Technically, PEreira still has to fight the entire Top 10 of the Light Heavyweight division but Dana White can easily make the decision to allow the BRazilian to jump one weight class up. After all, he is at around 230 pounds when he is not cutting weight for his fights.
Is Alex PEreira vs Jon Jones inevitable?
UFC president Dana White knows full well that this fight between Alex Pereira and Jon Jones is potentially one of those mega fights that has the potential to break records. He's been constantly praising Jones as the UFC GOAT and Alex Pereira keeps making strides to become that fighter. Should he win another belt in a diffrent division, 'Poatan' can easily jump several spots to be part of that conversation. But getting to figght for a different belt wouldn't be as easy as many would think. Dana White was asked about this on Thurday and said this: "If he cleaned out the division and we were like. There's literally no one for this guy to fight And he's 37. If he wants to move up to heavyweight, we will let him."
Cleaning out the division means we would have to see Alex Pereira wipe out the floor with every single fighter inside the Light Heavyweight division's Top 10. that last Thursday, interim Heavyweight champion Tom Aspinall already issued Pereira a challenge. This potential fight before Jon Jones would be a great indicator of how prepared Alex Pereira could be to defeat a bigger fighter. For Dana White, Pereira is not as big as some people might think. Although he looks pretty massive, there are other great fighters who can potentially have that weight advantage over him.
