UFC is much more than just a sport. The world's premier mixed martial arts company is also a show, and pays close attention to fan requests. One of these latest dream fights that fans crave is Alex Pereira vs. Jon Jones.
Both fighters have talked about it before, leaving the doors open to a possible fight, which would pit the light heavyweight champion against the heavyweight champion. This hasn't happened since Daniel Cormier moved up in weight to fight Stipe Miocic in 2018, where the former American Top Team fighter got the double championship to make history.
UFC boss Dana White has weighed in on the matter, showing a different opinion than he did a few weeks ago. "It's a possibility. Joe Rogan is pushing me to make this fight now," he stated in an interview with 'The Big Podcast'. One of the most recognized commentators in MMA is one of those names that are pushing the big man to make the fight happen.
A love-hate relationship with Jon Jones
Contrary to what many may come to think, the relationship in of business between Dana White and Jon Jones is not the dream one, as he himself has confirmed in that interview. "Jon Jones and I have not had a great relationship when it comes to business," he said.
Despite having his pluses and minuses, his opinion and iration for 'Bones' remains unchanged. "It doesn't alter my judgment. He's the greatest combat wrestler of all time. Period. End of story. There's not even a discussion," he stated flatly.
A fight between him and Pereira would be the biggest possible fight to be made at present with Conor McGregor's permission, and Dana White is a businessman who at the very least already has the idea in his head for the future.
